2026–2027 Student Leadership Selection

If you have strong leadership abilities or are looking to develop your skills further, the Student Leadership Selection is your ticket to career readiness. Each of the positions offered through this process is built specifically to develop you in 10 key skill areas that the National Association of Colleges and Employers ranked as the top attributes employers are seeking on a candidate’s resume.

2026–2027 Leadership Selection Timeline

Get help optimizing your resumes and cover letters to help your application stand out, and review and practice interview questions to showcase your leadership skills and experiences.

Resident Advisor 

The Resident Advisor (RA) is critical to the success of the Office of Housing and Residential/Commuter Life program, as this position maintains the closest and most enduring contact with residential students. RAs are live-in student leaders who foster community by building authentic relationships, connecting students with resources and one another, facilitating inclusive programming, and promoting safety through education and policy compliance. Their role is rooted in advocacy, integrity, and compassion, and they serve as role models who help shape a positive and engaged campus experience.

Orientation Guide

Serving as an Orientation Guide (OG) is an opportunity for you, as a current student, to support your incoming peers while also developing leadership skills, increasing your knowledge of Â黨ÊÓÆµ, and building connections that will last your lifetime. First Year Expert

The First Year Experts will develop, implement, and facilitate programs and coordinated support services that welcome first-year students to Â黨ÊÓÆµ within the Office of First Year Experience. Each FYE has their own distinct role, but will work collaboratively as a team to facilitate a seamless transition to the college environment.

Sophomore Scholar ​

The ULEAD Sophomore Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship provided to up to 24 full-time Â黨ÊÓÆµ undergraduate students who demonstrate not only a history of outstanding involvement, integrity, and leadership in and outside the classroom, but a promising future of continued involvement throughout the rest of their Â黨ÊÓÆµ career and beyond.

ULEAD Leadership Fellow 

The ULEAD Leadership Fellow is an academic year (September–May) commitment that is awarded to up to 14 full-time undergraduate students who demonstrate a history of outstanding involvement and leadership engagement, both inside the classroom and within the Â黨ÊÓÆµ community. Selected Fellows will receive a $2,500 scholarship for the academic year. These candidates show high integrity and the ability to motivate other students in their leadership development process. Most importantly, these students are prepared, capable, and willing to do the work necessary to help other Â黨ÊÓÆµ students succeed on campus in their current and future leadership roles.

Students applying for this scholarship must meet the following criteria:

  • Full-time, on-campus rising sophomore, junior, or senior standing for the upcoming academic year
  • A minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average at the time of application
  • Demonstrated continued involvement within Â黨ÊÓÆµ
Student Organization Manager

The Student Organization Managers assist the Office of Student Engagement professional staff in the coordination and development of a comprehensive and integrated schedule of events and activities for the Â黨ÊÓÆµundergraduate population. Serving as a liaison and resource to the various clubs and organizations, the Managers provide support and guidance for student leaders and host various trainings and events.
