Dora Mills’ letter to the editor of the ‘Press Herald’ addresses Â黨ÊÓƵ’s role in educating Maine’s rural primary care doctors

Dora Anne Mills, M.D., M.P.H., vice president for Clinical Affairs, wrote a letter to the editor of the Portland Press Herald, which was published in the November 6, 2014 issue. 

Mills addressed the topic of an article that appeared in the October 13 issue, which contained a review of Maine gubernatorial candidates’ health plans.  In her letter, Mills stated that the newspaper’s "references to the shortage of primary care doctors in rural areas omitted one important factor, and that is the role the Â黨ÊÓƵplays in combating this shortage."

Mills provided several statistics, demonstrating that Â黨ÊÓƵ’s College of Osteopathic Medicine is essential to providing the state with highly trained doctors in the primary care field as well as in rural areas.

Mills also pointed to the fact that Â黨ÊÓƵ’s other health care programs make significant contributions to Maine’s health care work force.
